NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT FEE APPRAISERS: The National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers (NAIFA) is a nationally recognized professional appraisal organization with a highly respected and distinguished reputation. It is one of the eight major charter member appraisal organizations of the Appraisal Foundation. NAIFA is the first and only professional Appraisal organization ever to receive the prestigious Real Estate Educators Associations Award (R.E.E.A.) for educational excellence, which is usually earned only by colleges. NAIFA's educational program was declared by R.E.E.A. to be the most outstanding educational program in the nation. The National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers was founded in 1961 as a non-profit, professional society of real estate appraisers and is incorporated under the laws of the State of Arizona. Today the Association has chapters throughout the United States and Canada and continues to grow not only in number, but also in stature. The Association's objectives are to raise the standards of the profession, gain recognition for its members as qualified appraisers and promote fellowship amongst all appraisers. These objectives further afford reasonable assurance to the public of the professional skill, integrity and responsibility of the membership. The N.A.I.F.A. has earned public respect to the extent that millions of assignments have been awarded to members since the organization was formed. The designations of the N.A.I.F.A. are recognized by many very highly respected organizations. The programs and services of N.A.I.F.A. are concerned with retaining and increasing this public trust and acceptance. To achieve any of the three member designations, the appraiser is required to succeffulyy complete certain written examinations, submit narrative demonstration reports and meet the specific experience requirements. In addition, each member pledges to uphold the Code of Ethics which emphasizes standards in detail fo professional practice. A copy of the Code of Ethics is provided on the following pages. In order to retain a member designation, each member is required to complete courses of continuing education in the appraisal profession. The N.A.I.F.A. commitment to providing such courses is perhaps its number one program. These courses are conducted at colleges and other facilities throughout the United States.
